Part 1 - Trials of Individual Combat
It was the first time since having the powers of Ice that Bolin felt vulnerable. Not only was it strange enough to find others with powers, but now this monstrous entity. Coughing icicles of blood, which looked like rubies Bolin thoughts swirled and wondered about the journey to this point and wow, how did this entity not only deflect the ice shards but actually catch and throw one back! That ice shard was now lodged in Bolin’s abdomen and ever so slowly draining blood, robbing energy and causing difficulties with breathing, he lay back and took in the scene…
Jaal’s vision was a blur, spinning in a whirlpool of his own making, though not by design as his own attack had been reversed. Shock gripped for the first time in years as he spiraled out of control, unable to achieve anything. Feeling nauseous from the effects of the whirlpool and straining to stay awake, Jaal became a passenger of his own element and blacked out…
Forever spiteful of his own touch, Novichok was actually laughing at this current predicament! Unable to enjoy life because any being he touched was consumed by poisons unintentionally, was it even possible to control it? It didn’t matter now, for the first time he had a taste of his own medicine, stabbing the elemental giant in front of him had done nothing but backfire poisons into his hand as he was sent sailing through the air by a large sweeping back hand from the elemental guardian. He was just thankful his poisons worked on him far more slowly than the criminals he’d brought low, maybe he could still survive? Novichok continued to snicker as he assessed the battle, they were all in a bad state, he backed off to the edge of the fight to concentrate on slowing his own venom that had turned on him…
Stunned, dazed AND burning. That was certainly a first. Akai was used to being on fire but pain was only ever given out in the form of burning impacts into criminals, his skin had always maintained temperature. Not now, burning bright with all his energy he had taken on the elemental being, each fireball, punch and kick landed doing nothing except burn his skin black. Narrowly avoiding a huge foot which would have crushed him to a fiery paste, Akai tried to carefully disengage. Whoooooshhh.
Jaal, still out cold, picked up Akai as the whirlpool careered past and into the far wall. Little did Akai know the being had redirected it and caught him off guard.
Water forever being a weakness to fire put him in severe danger, against the wall he was coughing up water and unable to light his fists…
Samael still hadn’t shown himself. Amazed at the power on display, the being was so large and confident of itself it seemed to only armor its legs in what looked to be thick metal elements which deflected all damage so far. The weight of this protection meant its movement was slow. Maybe that could be exploited? He was invisible in the shadow realm after all, no one knew he was here yet, although he felt that they could somehow sense his presence. As Samael carefully planned his attack, hoping to come up from behind with a jump and slice the beings un-armoured throat, just as he reached the edge of the beings peripheral vision he froze. The huge head turned slowly and the white eyes, locked with his gaze, burned coldy, deadly, viciously. Samael, for the first time, knew true fear.
After blasting a beacon of light from his eyes with all his might Xul knew he had to get up close and make it personal. His beam had simply been absorbed by the beings body, unbelievable! It had cut through bricks, steel, bodies and literally every compound known to man. He couldn’t risk another because of how much energy he needed to produce a blast of the magnitude he had just executed. It was then up to his favorite light-imbued sword and axe. Weaving like rage incarnate to avoid the beings attacks he hacked, slashed and gutted, using various schools of weapon masteries he had learnt since finding his power, but none. Of. Them. Worked. Tiring, he was too slow to avoid the counter punch and was hit backwards, a glancing blow which made him stumble over. That stumble landed Xul in a very dangerous position. Directly under the monstrosity. His life quickly flashed before his eyes before all went dark, the last thing he saw was the bottom of the huge foot hurtling towards his face…
Bingwen was arcing around at ridiculous high speeds, faster than lightning or at-least he liked to think he was. Impossible to test due to the unpredictable origin points of a flash of lightning. Hurtling lightning bolts whilst racing along the perimeter of the encounter it was clear this battle was one sided, in favor of this huge being. The bolts were simply being absorbed and after seeing the outcome of others who got too close Bingwen had the sense to not engage in melee. Only insane people do the same thing repeatedly and expect a different outcome. Instead Bingwen pulled to a stop, lightning crackling in his wake and decided to help the two assassins against the wall, surely a small jolt of electricity would get them to wake…
Pax was amazed both at the bravery he was witnessing and the colossal elemental in-front of him. As far as he was aware he was the only person who’s body had literally become an element but this being radiated energies of all elements. Maybe there was more to this Universe than meets the eye. Regardless he wasn’t prepared to let a fellow assassin die, his flying boulders had done little harm to the being. His attention was drawn to Xul’s duel, amazing speed, accuracy and determination but it was to no avail. Xul was about to have his skull crushed for his bravery, with his arm raised Pax clenched his fist and Xul disappeared into the ground, dragged deep and enveloped, careful enough to ensure he was not crushed, such was his affinity of feel with the earth. The huge foot which was about to end a life was then trapped in the ground, how long it would hold was anyone’s best guess. Hopefully it would be enough time for the beleaguered assassins to regroup and come up with a plan, however desperate.
